Watching and listening

For the last few days I have been listening.  I have spoken less in the last two days than in a while.  I'm out of the office this week, but still working.  Here is what I have witnessed.
A dad waiting for his wife and two daughters to join him.  He was preparing a place for the them to sit and eat lunch.  He put out chairs, small table, etc.  He worked for about thirty minutes.  Then, when the family arrived his wife was not impressed.  She and the girls left, then came back later.  She then jumped on her cellphone and ignored her kids and husband for the next hour.
An older couple sat down to eat and read.  After a few minutes, their food ended up on the floor as the wife had balanced the food on too small a table.  No fuss.  No screaming.  No anger.  Just a smile and a clean up.
Some birds joined us as we all ate lunch. Some fed the birds, others didn't.  Sadly, a few children chased the birds around relentlessly.  One parent came over and said "Leave those poor creatures alone".  Other parents were no where to be found and the poor creatures were chased and chased all while trying to grab a chip or fry from the ground.
I encourage you to be in the moment.  Do not neglect your relationships.  Go in peace and go with God.
