As many of you know we help out with Restart every month.  Restart is an inner city homeless ministry in downtown Kansas City.  We serve a meal once a month there and have for over ten years.  If you were in church yesterday you heard there was a massive jump in homeless in Kansas City this past few years.  For the last few years we have heard there were 7,700 homeless in Kansas City.  That numbered swelled to over 13,000 this past year.  There are many in need of help.
This Christmas is our next Saturday to serve.  Thank you to all of you who signed up to bring stuff and deliver.  This year is a bit different as we are not serving the food.  They have plenty of volunteers to serve, but we still need to deliver the food which includes: Ham, Stuffing, Sweet Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, Mashed Potatoes, Rolls, Desserts and Relishes.  We will not be preparing the food up here like usual.  We are asking people to bring prepared items to the church for deliver.  We also have a list of items for the 150 adults, 25 children and 7 teens staying at the shelter.
$3-5 McDonalds or Burger King giftcards
Small Bible or Devotional Book
Packaged candy or cookies
Thermal Socks and underwear
Rain Poncho
$5 phone card
$ bus day pass
Crossword or Suduko book and pencil
Notebook and pen
Scarf and stocking cap
Warm gloves

Small gift for boy or girl

Please prayerfully consider making a difference for someone in need this Christmas.  Thank you for helping with the Lee's Summit Social Services Toy Drive this year.  Grace spent nearly $10,000 to give 300 families a  wonderful Christmas morning.  We can do more.  Pray.  Open your heart.  How can we help those in need this year?
Drop your items off at church any time before Christmas Day.
Bring your food up by 10 am for deliver.  We still need some helpers.  Sign up to help!!!

Go in peace and go with God.

How We Speak and Act

How we speak about others says more about us than them.  Every word we speak reveals a little bit more about the state of our soul.  How we treat others also show where your heart is and what is really going on in your spiritual life.  In 1 John 2, we see this addressed-

9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. 10 Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. 11 But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.

Do you live in the light?  Do you hate your brother or sister in Christ?  I know we sometimes become frustrated with people, but c'mon, I do not understand the level of hated some have for fellow Christians or pastors.  Yes there are disagreements, but sadly I sometimes feel that Christians are our own worst enemy.  We don't need the prince of darkness working against us, we are doing fine on our own.

So I implore you and I pray that you will choose to walk in the light.  Be a light in the darkness for all that you encounter.  Let God's grace flow through your words, thoughts and deeds freely.  Let us fill heaven with songs of joy and praise!  Let your light shine!!!
Go in peace and go with God.
