A holy gathering place, consecrated for the purpose of worship. Christians gather in worship and experience the presence of God. They sing hymns, praise songs, hear the Word of God, pray, fellowship, recite creeds, experience God's Word in interesting ways (video/drama) and stand in awe of God's holiness. We baptize, receive Holy Communion, celebrate weddings and gather in a service of death and resurrection (funeral) in a sanctuary.
We are sent forth from a sanctuary to share the Good News, serve the poor and invite others to Christ. Is a sanctuary necessary for a church to exist? No. Do we feel called by God to build a holy gathering place for worship? YES.
Over the next few days many of you will be receiving a commitment card for our "It's Time to Grow" campaign. Please prayerfully consider what God is calling you to do. As Him, "Lord, what would you have me do?"
If you have any questions, contact me at the church or through email.
Go in peace and go with God.
